Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez was already close to making his next fight against John Ryder official,
he will defend his Undisputed Supermiddleweight belts.
The fight had already been announced by many because Canelo is an icon in Guadalajara but the fight hadn't been made official.
Matchroom Boxing announced officially that Canelo is returning home with the following title:
'The King is Coming Home'. This will be the very first time Canelo Alvarez defends his title in his home town, it will be a wild Cinco de Mayo celebration.
A fight that is taking place on May 6, one day after the holiday.
DAZN Boxing is the streaming service that will offer the fight on Pay Per View in the United States.
However, broadcasting rights do change in Mexico because promoters have different deals inside that country.
Canelo also makes his return to 168lb after giving Light Heavyweight a try and failed to defeat Dmitry Bivol.
Although they are looking to fight once more in a different weight class, the mandatory fight of the class he reigns supreme is up next for Canelo.
Ryder was next in line and he will have a chance to shock the world. But Alvarez is currently in his prime, it's hard to see an outcome where he doesn't win.
The main plan is to host the fight at one of Guadalajara's main stadiums, which is Chivas' Akron Stadium. It will host around 50,000 people and maybe even more.
In fact, the first major press conference already took place inside the stadium. Both Ryder and Canelo were in attendance to speak to the press.
Making history like this will always get the challenger hyped for potentially getting an upset.
